Leaders are supposed to solve problems, which will reduce uncertainty. That is precisely why people are hired and fired.

I agree whole-heartedly... unless there is a gross overstatement of reality - such as in the early days of Second Life (or the mainstream coverage of SL). In this situation, it is the job of the leader to ask questions and to demand a solid rationale for activating against the hype.
