There’s a new addition to the online scene sharing tid-bits about Starbucks. We know about the StarbucksGossip blog. But have you been reading Pat Nerr’s GREEN APRON STORIES blog?
“Pat Nerr” is a former long-time Starbucks partner having managed many a Starbucks store. Not sure if he worked at Starbucks corporate headquarters; however, from his blog its clear he has connections and insider knowledge about Starbucks HQ.
Pat’s recent posting about his Starbucks store going head-to-head against a Tully’s Coffee shop shares lots of insider Starbucks perspective on store-level operations. (The nugget about monitoring customer counts at Tully’s is priceless.)
You should also read his list of unique Starbucks sayings as well as his ditty on life as a clopener. Interesting stuff.
Love Green Apron Stories and this blog! Thank's for the insight. Pat is hilarious and provides us customers a nice insight into our favorite place to frequent. Having spent a ton of time in Seattle over the past few years, his stories are much appreciated.
Keep up the good work here on Brand Autopsy. Fantastic site!

I was reading your manifesto on 'what must starbucks do', great stuff. I would also like to add that in addition to bringing back the old espresso machines and getting rid of some of the stuff clouding the counter they could cut down on the crazy coffee mixes, it takes way too long to queue for a coffee because inevitably there'll be someone unable to make up his or her mind about the type of coffee they want- the coffee menu is too long. People think they have a bunch of choices when in fact, they are just choosing between different smelling sugar syrups.
Also bringing back the old coffee machines might bring back the smell of coffee and great baristas. It's such a shame that almost anyone can make a coffee in starbuck, all they need to do is press few buttons. And it doesn't taste the same. they might still use the same coffee beans but the taste is different. Also, double shot should be compulsory, especially because starbucks is giving out really large cups. I'm not a fan of flavored milk. Nero does a great job, by always putting two shots and not charging for a an extra. When it comes to starbucks, a lot of the time, you feel like you walk into a McDonald's employees don's smile, some hardly speak the language. and it's a shame. I read that starbucks is one of the ten best places to work for. You'd expect people to be happier. Sad and depressed don't make good coffee and don't make good impression. In my local small starbucks outlet- the turnover of employees is low, and they seem nice, they smile they remember what you order, but in bigger starbucks they just don't care, and you hardly ever see the same face twice. It's telling something. Together with the old espresso machines and real baristas starbucks could bring back the old good feeling. And become a regular stop once again.
