Stephen Denny at the NOTE TO CMO blog has an interesting assignment for us marketers. He wants us to apply Malcolm Gladwell’s Thin Slicing mindset (from the book BLINK) to a variety of marketing behavioral matters. Thin Slicing is the notion knowledgeable people can make astute observations based upon instant and spontaneous off-the-cuff observations.
One of the assignments Stephen offers is …
”What are the 'thin slice' images that come to you when you see a company that may have just stumbled upon that intangible that turns them into a unique, transformational customer experience? What are the triggers you see when you think you might see something terrific emerging?"
In the comments section, I replied with a story about how one company’s thin slice triggers of simplicity, soul, and naked authenticity signaled something special is happening. That company? Chipotle.
Stop by Stephen’s NOTE TO CMO blog to add your perspective to his thin slicing assignments.
John and all: Roger von Oech's excellent "Creative Think" tagged me, and has a number of interesting posts attached to it. He, in turn, was originally tagged by the originator of this meme, Mike Wagner, at Own Your Own Brand.
All great stuff, very thought provoking --
