Have you been following the Hidden Kitchen series on NPR’s Morning Edition? If not, take a few moments to listen and or read more about it.
Davia Nelson and Nikki Silva, the aptly named Kitchen Sisters, are accomplished audio documentarians and were recently profiled in this NY Times article (reg. req’d). Their Hidden Kitchen series “…explores the world of street-corner cooking, hidden kitchens, legendary meals and eating traditions -- how communities come together through food.”
In each seven minute audio vignette from the Hidden Kitchen series, you listen to and learn of richly compelling stories about how food truly brings communities together. Be it a moonlight kitchen that feeds taxi drivers in San Francisco or how the George Foreman grill has become a hidden kitchen for immigrants and the homeless … Davia and Nikki tell a great story.
So great a story, that it should challenge us marketers to better tell the stories of the products and services we market to customers.
